What employers in Qatar expect on a CV
Say whether you hold a QID
The Qatar ID, or QID, is the residence card every resident holds. A line such as 'QID holder, residence permit (employer sponsored)' or 'Residence permit (family sponsored)' tells the recruiter you are already in the country. If you are abroad, say where you are based and that you need a work visa.
No need to write 'NOC available'
In 2020 Qatar removed the general rule that workers need a No Objection Certificate from their employer to change jobs. Older CVs and some ads still mention an NOC, but today your notice period is the useful line, so state it plainly.
Qatari nationals: make it visible
Many employers in Qatar run Qatarization programmes to hire and develop Qatari nationals. If you are Qatari, put your nationality at the top of your personal details rather than on the last page.
A photo is common, two pages is normal
Many CVs in Qatar carry a professional headshot, and two A4 pages is standard for experienced professionals. Use a recent photo in business dress against a plain background, or leave it off if the employer asks for none.
Licences and attested degrees
Healthcare professionals need a licence from the Ministry of Public Health, and other regulated professions, such as engineering, have their own registration. Many employers also ask for attested degree certificates, so mention it if yours are done.

Qatar CV questions
Should I put my QID number on my CV?
Say that you hold a QID and what kind of residence permit you have, but leave the number itself off. Employers collect ID numbers during onboarding, and a CV passes through many inboxes on the way there.
Do I still need an NOC to change jobs in Qatar?
Qatar removed the general NOC requirement in 2020, so most workers can change employers after giving the notice their contract requires. Some categories of worker have their own rules, so check your situation before you apply. On your CV, your notice period is the line recruiters need.
Should I put a photo on my CV in Qatar?
Many recruiters in Doha expect one, especially for customer-facing roles in hospitality, aviation and retail, but it is not compulsory. Use a recent professional headshot, or leave it off when the ad asks for no photos.
A4 or US Letter for Qatar?
A4, the standard across Qatar and the Gulf. You can switch to US Letter before downloading if you also apply to employers in the US or Canada.
