What recruiters in India expect on a resume
Skip the declaration
'I hereby declare that the above information is true' is a habit from older formats. Most private-sector recruiters do not need it, and the line is better spent on a project or a result. Add it only if an employer or a government form asks for it.
Drop the personal details nobody asks for
Father's name, date of birth, religion, marital status and full home address are not needed for most corporate jobs. A phone number, email, city and LinkedIn profile are enough.
A photo is optional
Many Indian resumes still carry a photo, but most private employers and MNCs do not expect one. Add a professional photo only if the job ad asks for it or it is the norm in your field, such as aviation or hospitality.
Freshers: lead with education and projects
Put your degree, college, year and CGPA or percentage near the top, followed by projects, internships and certifications, and keep it to one page. Experienced professionals can use two pages, led by recent roles and measurable results.
Expect the notice period question

What is the best resume format for freshers?
A one-page, reverse-chronological resume with education near the top, followed by projects, internships, certifications and skills. Keep it text-based and simple so job portals can read it. CVFalcon's templates have sections for all of these.
Should I add a declaration at the end of my resume?
Most employers do not require it, and it takes space you can use better. Some government applications ask for one; in that case, follow the format they give you.
Resume or CV: which word should I use?
In India the two are used almost interchangeably, and recruiters understand either. Strictly, a CV is a longer academic record, but for corporate jobs a resume of one or two pages is what recruiters expect.
Should I put a photo on my resume?
